la dolce vita - restaurant concept - a little bit of italy... deep in the heart of texas

Design Layout - freeform site design

This concept was inspired by the song Deep in the Heart of Texas by Perry Como, my love of Italian food, and desire to revisit San Antonio. The background is a single image. The emphasis is to give tourists and locals an idea of how much fun, cool, and relaxing the atmosphere is. The slogan is my idea. The umbrellas serve as navigation buttons.
regrowLA - information design

regrowLA is a concept. It was inpspired by the Save Detroit movement and rethinkLA. My idea is to purchase vacant plots of land and convert them into urban farms. For a small maintenance fee farmers grow their own produce, which is a scarcity in urban areas. I wanted to reconnect communities, improve eating habits, and give disenfranchised people a chance to be productive again.
Sade - site redesign

Design Layout - midterm

As a music fan, and a fan of the group Sade, I wanted to redesign her commercial site. I felt that the current site did not adequately promote her latest release and had everything except the kitchen sink thrown on the splash page.

The emphasis is placed on her most current album release, Soldier of Love. The album artwork is beautiful and I redesigned the site to accomodate it. The existing site throws all the content, media, and links in a very straightforward manner. I wanted to rethink that approach. Any fan of her music, or the music of any artist, is well aware of the artist's content, and typically spends more time on an artist's page than they would on a regular site.
artwalkfinder - information design concept

This is a concept to represent local artists online. Users can browse, buy traditional or digital prints and find local art walks or gallery openings. I want to leverage the site with the power of social media links. I wanted to humanize the visual artist and help them engage with their fans, like music artists do. Many, many thanks to LaToya Smith, UI/UX designer and Johnnie Walker, PM and UI Architect for their help!!!

Our goal in Information Design is to incorporate Zero Time concepts, User Centered Design methodology, and weave them with our knowledge of UX and UI design.

Design Layout - midterm

Our midterm project for Design Layout was to create a freeform site that did not adhere to a strict grid layout. My idea was to create a site that could be navigated by using Microsoft Kinect software, a capacitive touch based screen, or by using a wireless controller.
expeDISHion - site concept

Introduction to Web Design

This site concept was inspired by Chef Steve Saenz. He is a graduate of the Cordon Bleu. He had been throwing around ideas of creating a full service concierge service that provides a personal chef and entertainment services as part of a complete set of services that pampers the traveller from beginning to end. No need is unmet. The goal is to provide a one of a kind experience that the guest will never forget.

When I was talking to Steve, he had alot of great ideas that I wanted to capture an put on layout. The layout and typography are meant to convey adventure, distinction, and delight. The logo is a cast iron pan and knife, which are Steve's favorite cooking tools. The site is designed to be fun, easy to read, and adventurous like the concept it introduces.

Xeriscaping is a growing niche within landscaping that promotes landscaping according to the climatic environment.

I wanted to include the idea that to be envirnonmentally friendly in landscape design, you don't have to exclude color. People in the West and Southwest typically attribute xeriscaping with cactus and other succulents.
